I’ve been putting this off for weeks and now I have so many cool things to talk about. First, which was already mentioned, a non-profit organization (NPO) similar to LoveLunces called Rock and Wrap It Up has recently signed with the NHL. That’s right, the national hockey league. If you haven’t yet checked them out, do it!
Another interesting note!
As you already know, our partners/friends at D.C Central Kitchen (DCCK) are amazing! Ever wonder where all the Verizon Center concession leftover food goes? D.C Central Kitchen, “one of the city's largest organizations dedicated to combatting hunger.” Since teaming up with DCCK, the Verizon Center concessions has donated over 10,000 pounds of food!
“Ted Leonsis, the Verizon Center, and Monumental Sports have been supporters for quite a long time,” Said Brian Macnair, Chief Development Officer of D.C. Central Kitchen.
“This past year, we started a relationship where they’re donating food product from conferences and events that go on (at Verizon Center). It’s huge, because we do 5,000 meals every day, 365 days a year. (The food goes from) our kitchen to all of the local shelters, transitional homes, and halfway houses.”
In the future, D.C Central Kitchen hopes to gather more than just food items. I think we can handle that!
